New York based actress/singer/dancer/translator
Originally from Yokohama, Japan
Recently, she appeared in West Side Story at West Valley Performing Arts Center as Jet Girl Swing. However, she turned into the Swing for both Jets and Sharks after the show opened, and stepped in as a Shark after she learned the whole track in a day to save the show.
In the spring of 2022, she made her Off-Broadway debut as a dancer/puppeteer in The Little Mermaid at The Players Theatre. She enjoyed her journey on The Polar Express Train Ride in Whippany, NJ.
She also appeared in The Emperor’s New Clothes the musical by Shuji
Terayama(Hook), The Miraculous Mandarin(The Red Bird) and The Glass Menagerie(Laura) .
She studied musical theatre at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in NYC.
Also she’s taking vocal training in the MattFarnsworth Vocal Studio. She had taken ballet,
jazz, tap, acting and vocal classes in Japan. She was a member of Youth Theater Japan
from 2016 to 2018.
Rion is passionate about translating musical numbers and librettos into
Japanese and performing and singing by herself. Moreover she’s organizing the free online
readings of musicals she’s translated to spread musical theatre culture in Japan. She’s also
very active in supporting other people who are interested in studying musical theatre in the
USA and sharing her experiences about life in NYC as an international student. She’s so
happy that finally she can see shows on Broadway and now she usually sees shows once a
week and shares the reports of them on her blog and Twitter’s space live streaming. She
also loves to visit different cities in America. Last year,she traveled around in America for two
weeks alone.
